Sharon’s Monthly News for April 2024

Good Morning and Happy Monday! Welcome to Sharon’s Monthly News.

One of my goals is to bring my two brands, Selma P. Verde, Author of Young Adult Fiction and Mentoring A Dream (MAD), Helping the adults reach the teens in their lives together and become a cohesive unit. Why? I believe that both brands provide tools for parents and caring adults to understand the issues teens are facing and then create a safe place to talk to their teens about those issues. As we move through 2024, you will see the brands working together more.

The Street’s Way’s release date is….

The big news from the writing desk is, we are announcing the release date of The Street’s Way!

The writing process is always a journey with its own twists and turns. When you are an indie author and publisher, the process is more affected by things that happen in your own everyday life. When I look back at how I arrived at this point, I will say that the journey to publishing The Street’s Way has been a challenging one.

If you have been a regular reader of my blog, you know there have been some life challenges that have delayed the release of The Street’s Way. When things happen in life that you have to take care of, do what you need to do. I found it hard to set my passion for writing aside to take care of other things. But, my advice in times like these is to get a little bit done each day. And have faith that it will get done; more on its time table than yours sometimes.

Check out Selma’s brand updates below to find out when The Street’s Way will be released!

MAD and Selma Brand updates

So, for our monthly news posts, I will provide you with some updates on each brand and some thoughts that I have about the monthly theme we are presenting on Mentoring A Dream. MAD is the abbreviation that I use for Mentoring A Dream.

Without further ado, the release date for The Street’s Way is May 9, 2024! I am so excited to be able to get this book out to you! Can’t wait for you to see how The Way Series continues.

We will be doing a ebook giveaway on April 12th-15th to celebrate The Hard Way‘s 7th year in publication. I also wanted to give you one last chance to pick up free copies of The Hard Way and Shawn’s Way in preparation for the release of The Street’s Way on May 9th! If you haven’t had a chance to get your copy of Josh’s Story, sign up for my email list and a link will be sent to you to download one. Josh’s story is a short story about Josh’s side of his being one who bullies. It is a great addition to Shawn’s Way and a nice bridge between it and The Street’s Way.

I am looking forward to getting out to more book fairs more this year. Not only to sell books, but to get out there to meet other authors, meet potential readers and make some connections to continue to spread the word that we need to support teens and help them confront and overcome the challenges they face growing up.

Novels focusing on teen challenges – The Way Series

Are you looking for a couple of coming-of-age reads for you or your teen about challenges they face? One great series which fits the bill in The Way Series. It is the series I have written under my pen name, Selma P. Verde.

The Way Series

Book #1The Hard Way – is the story of Paul Jones and his starting his freshman year of high school and how he must navigate dealing with pressure from his peers to do things to fit in.

Book #2Shawn’s Way – although it is a continuation of Paul’s journey from The Hard Way, we meet freshman, Shawn Townson. He becomes the target of a bully when an upperclassman decides to take out his frustration on him.

Book #3The Street’s Way – is a continuation of The Way Series which introduces Mikala Kalani to the storyline as a runaway and homeless teen. Coming your way on May 9, 2024.
