Good Morning! Here’s the Monday Morning Blog!
Today is Bullying Prevention Awareness Day!
Be sure to wear blue today to show your support of bullying prevention!
October is Bullying Prevention Month
According to Pacer.Org, one out of every five (20%) students report being bullied.
With this kind of statistic, we as parents, mentors, and caring adults need to start talking to teens and young adults about this issue and ways to prevent it.
We as a society need to start digging into what is causing this much bullying and try to fix those issues to prevent it from happening.
This month I plan to provide some tips and about how you can talk to the teen in your life about it and things we can do to understand the issue and work on solutions.
This month’s blog topics for Bullying Prevention Month will be
10/11 – Teen Challenge – How to deal with being the target of a bully
10/18 – Inspirational People – Ones who stand up to those who bully
10/25 – Teen Resource – Boys Town – Bullying Prevention Programs and Hotline
10/31 – Bonus Teen Resource – Teen cliques and bullying

My Monthly News
Here is the monthly news for October 2022!
Working with Mentoring a Dream
One of the big things that happened last month is the launch of the mentoring side of our platform. Mentoring a Dream has always been that next step in my mission to help teens succeed. One of the ways is to provide the adults in their lives with resources to help them reach out to their teens through the noise of everyday life.
Today is a big day, not only because it is Bullying Prevention Awareness Day, but it is also the launch day of our first resource to help parents, teachers and caring adults. It is a Bullying Information Guide which provides tips to adults on how to talk to your teens about the topic of bullying. This free resource is available through signing up for my email list, either through Selma P. Verde or through Mentoring a Dream.
You can subscribe to my email list by filling out your email, first name and last name in the subscribe boxes on the top of this page. Or use the QR code below
If you are already on my email list, you may have received your copy last week, since another benefit to being on the email list is you will receive the news and freebies before they are released to everyone else.
Deep Valley Book Festival
On Saturday, I attended the Deep Valley Book Festival in Mankato, Minnesota. It was held at the WOW! Entertainment venue.
It was good to be out in the community at an in person event spreading the message about teen coming of age challenges and promoting The Way Series. The message of wanting to help teens through a relatable story told through a novel is a great one to share. I also donated a copy of each of the books in The Way Series to the event for the hourly giveaways.
I was also able to connect with some other Minnesota authors and get the word out about Mentoring a Dream as my new mentoring platform to authors and readers alike.

Writing Updates
This month is a big month for promoting Shawn’s Way and talking about how to prevent bullying from even happening. Most of the stories about bullying that are out there talk about the target of one who bullies. To help prevent bullying, we also need to take a look at why the one who bullies is doing what they are doing.
I am working on a short story about one of the characters in Shawn’s Way. Josh’s Story is about how Josh Alberts becomes one who bullies. His story will become a part of The Way Series. Will keep you posted on its release date.
And The Street’s Way is still planning to come your way in 2023!
Shawn’s Way is about teens and bullying
Do you know about The Way Series? It is a series of coming of age novels for teens and young adults about the challenges they face. Shawn’s Way focuses on the teen challenge of bullying. During National Bullying Prevention Month, we will be talking about ways to prevent bullying and promoting the message that is portrayed through Shawn’s Way.
