Good Morning! Here’s the Monday Morning Blog!
How did things go for you last week? Get a chance to talk to that teen or young adult in your life? If so, what did you talk about. Hey teens and young adults! Did you check in with the adults in your life yet? You know, they would love it if you did, so how about trying to reach out to them?
November’s Theme – Making Choices
This month’s theme is making choices. It’s something that we do every day which determines our life direction. We learn from all our choices, whether they are good or bad for us. Sometimes choices are made without all the correct information, instead are made based on assumptions about a situation or a person.
Some of the choices we make could be considered daring to some but meeting a passion for others. Amelia Earhart became a woman pilot like I am, but she did it at a time when women were just starting to take on flying and aviation was still gaining its wings, so to speak.
During National Women’s History month in March, I wrote a post about her, here’s a link to it. Inspiring Person – Amelia Earhart This post focuses on how she was inspiring by the things she achieved in her life. This time, the focus will be on how the choices she made to follow her passion helped her to become the inspiring person she was.
Amelia Earhart on making choices
That quote says a lot about who Amelia Earhart was and how she lived her life. She did difficult things and pursued them until she achieved them.
- She became a pilot when not many women weren’t doing it. After her first ride in an airplane, she knew she wanted to become a pilot and decided to do it.
- She became a pilot, even when it wasn’t safe to do so. Aviation was still coming into its own. Earhart became the first woman aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic. She hoped that her flights would prove that flying was indeed safe for everyone to do.
She made the choices to do these things so she could follow her passion to fly. She made it happen. Even if by doing so put her life in danger.
Sometimes making the choice is scary
Making choices can be a tough thing to do. What happens if I make the wrong choice is typically the fear that most people have. Or, what if I fail at what I am choosing to do? These are both very valid feelings to have. But what Earhart says above is true. You can do anything you set your mind to. The possibilities are endless, but you must put the work in and sometimes put your fears aside to make them happen.
Here is another quote from Earhart,
Have you ever done something you were afraid to do? Give a speech in front of a big group of people? Jump off a diving board? Or even publish a book? The fear you have can be used as a springboard to do something you have never done or are afraid of doing. Once you decide to just do it and leave the fear behind, it will take to your courage to do it. And when you have found your courage and done that thing you have overcome the fear. How does it feel? It feels good. And you now have built confidence in the fact that you can do it.
Know you can make choices
Making choices can be a tough thing to do. But get inspired by others who have done what you want to do and know the possibilities are endless for what you can do. Amelia Earhart made the choice to follow her passion to fly, she became a pilot, and many other opportunities and achievements came after that. She inspires us to do what we are passionate about. To use our fear, find our courage and do the thing that may seem scary or impossible for us to do. And do it.
